Stow on the Wold - Cotswolds

Late train from Bath, delays and missed connection but, I am getting used to that. Train was very crowded because the strikes shut down a major segment from London and backed up everything.

Hired a car from Moreton-in-Marsh train station to Stow on the Wold. 20GBP seems pretty expensive but what are you going to do?

At last I am checked in to a really lovely ground floor room in The Park. This is a neighborhood very close to the town center so walking is easy.

A quick dinner and I am ready for relaxation and early bed.

Day 2
Easy morning enjoying a coffee in my room and my excellent garden view. It faces east so the bright sun greets me and I am happy!

Walk to a nice bakery for a breakfast sandwich and a cinnamon roll for later. Yum! Then a walk about town to all the small shops. Picked up some cheese and crackers and Wild Boar pate for an afternoon meal. Visited a drugstore to replenish some health and beauty aids, and another little Farm shop where I had some freshly made soup for a mid-morning snack. I think I’ll sit in the garden and blog and catch up on communications this afternoon.

Found the post office and sent some neat pop-up cards to the grands. Visited the town library which is a large historic home which was donated to the town. Library collection is contemporary but some of the paintings are quite nice, English Civil War era topics like Oliver Cromwell et al.

My wonderful hostess at the B&B (no breakfast though) is Frankie and she is doing a load of laundry for me today. Very nice!

Lots of walking paths through the Cotswolds, out in the hills and between towns. This beautiful weather begs for a walk! If I was here longer I would definitely go walking about. Still I’m getting in close to 5 miles a day just around town.

Spent a glorious afternoon in the garden, eating my cheese and crackers and blogging. I needed this nice slow day. Met Frankie’s dogs, and her son, Lido. She is a ball of energy, still supposed to be on crutches from a broken leg but three weeks into it she is not using them very often. Tsk, tsk. Young people heal quickly and think they will live forever. She runs the B&B, has social media marketing job, teaches yoga, runs marathons, and does massages. Whew!

Stroll back into the village for an early dinner about 5 ish. Normal dinner here is definitely after 7. Back to the room for an early night.

  1. Maybe one day our paths will cross exploring villages in England!
